MapPoint 2009 Tips:
  • During Installation - If the DVD autorun routine does not start the installation procedure when the DVD is inserted, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the top directory on the DVD. Then double click on the Setup file to start the installation.
  • Get familiar with the different toolbars offered by MapPoint. Either Right-Click on an open space of an existing toolbar or from the main menu select View > Toolbars.
  • MapPoint 2009 allows the user to switch between Small and Large icons on the toolbar. Be sure to select the size you prefer - The selection is located on the toolbar menu. Either Right-Click on an open space of an existing toolbar or from the main menu select View > Toolbars.
  • Use the Data Map mode/style of MapPoint when working with MapPoint shapes (or shapes generated by MapApps MapPoint component products). It provides an easier map interface for selecting the shapes.
LegislativeMaps and SchoolDistrictMaps Tips:
  • Save your MapPoint Map. All color changes and Comment additions are stored within the MapPoint Shape. If you make a group of changes to the map, use MapPoints File>Save As.. feature and store the map for later. When you want to use it again. Open MapPoint and Open the Map. Then open the respective LegislativeMaps or SchoolDistrictMaps application. The application will look for the open MapPoint License and connect to the Map.
  • Delete Districts you are not interested in. You can use the Delete District Button on the application (which will prompt you to confirm the delete), or you can highlight the District on MapPoint and press the Delete button on your keyboard to delete more quickly. If you mess up, just use the “Add Districts” to regenerate the Districts or re-open a saved Map in MapPoint if you have already made changes to the map.
  • Use the Data Map mode/style. The LegislativeMaps or SchoolDistrictMaps application has a single button on the Toolbar for switching the map to the Data Map mode. You can easily switch to any mode by using the MapPoint Toolbar, but the application allows you to switch in just one click. In Data Map mode it is easier to click on Districts.
